About

Shiamak Davar founded VICTORY ARTS FOUNDATION in 2004 to provide a platform to address social causes and concerns. VICTORY makes dance available across age, gender, caste, class and ability; without prejudice. VICTORY endeavors to use the power of dance as a therapeutic medium to bring joy to the underprivileged, physically challenged, mentally challenged, visually impaired, deaf and mute and makes dance a viable and respected career option. Dance for Good

DANCE FOR GOOD is an innovative, viral volunteering program, which spreads joy to the old, sick or underprivileged through the power of dance performance. Volunteer dancers (The Shiamak Davar Dance Company, The Shiamak Dance Teams, Victory Dance Team, Victory on Wheels and / or student groups) put on inspiring and entertaining performances for people in old age homes, NGOs, hospitals and destitute homes to put smiles on their faces and bring happiness into their lives thereby proving to be therapeutic.

The DANCE FOR GOOD program aims at:

  • Sharing the joy of dance to heal
  • Empowering performers with an opportunity to make a change
  • Bringing a smile of people’s faces and giving them hope
  • Giving an opportunity to people to take up a cause they support and give it visibility through dance
  • Encouraging team spirit
  • Reaching out to various locations and supporting multiple causes
  • Bringing communities together through dance and the performing arts
  • Creating awareness

The program works in two ways, the performers get a chance to DANCE at various platforms in turn doing GOOD for the community.

VICTORY Dance Teams

The VICTORY Dance Team program addresses the psycho-social, physical, logistical and financial barriers which are faced by the ones with special needs and underprivileged individuals so that they can reach their goals in dance. As members of the VICTORY Dance Team, talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided the training, performance platforms and opportunities to make a career out of dancing to support their ongoing livelihood.

There are two VICTORY Dance Teams:

1. Victory Dance Team (VDT) – Individuals from underprivileged background and hearing impaired

2. Victory on Wheels (VOW) – Mixed group of Individuals on wheelchairs, crutches, calipers, with down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, epeart syndrome, polio, etc.

Through special training and performances, the VICTORY Dance Team (VDT) program works towards the following objectives:

  • Expand awareness in the minds of all participants in the VICTORY programs, so that they can make dancing a professional pursuit
  • Provide an incentive for those with talent to work towards being selected as a VICTORY Dance Team member.
  • Provide professional dance training to special needs and underprivileged individuals so that they can reach their goals in dance
  • Provide support & mentoring to individuals to clarify their goals and provide support as they work to achieve them
  • Provide ongoing employment opportunities so that talented dancers can make a career out of their skills
  • Strengthen the reputation and demand for special needs and underprivileged dance groups so that they are viewed as a professional dance team in their own right.
